Is it normal to wash Jello?

Ok, don't answer until you read on.....we were at the grocery store today and in the deli they had Jello squares. Nathan saw them and wanted some, no problem because he isn't allergic to them but I worried about other mayo salads near by the jello may have dripped on the jello so before Nathan could eat the jello squares I rinsed them in water. No I didn't use soap.
